our maternity session

Welcome to the last post of 2018, I can't believe how quickly the year has passed. It has been the BEST year yet! Definitely not without it's ups and down, struggles throughout but honestly the best because we got to greatest gift I could ever have asked for. In just a few short weeks we will welcome baby Girl into the world and then 2019 will be the BEST year ever. Today I am going to share our amazing maternity photos we had taken while in Arizona. I had been putting together a vision on what I wanted my maternity photos to look like and after hours and hours of stressing that vision came to life exactly how I imagined!

We have only had our family photos taken twice before from another photographer besides ourselves. Once when we got married, you can see those photos here and once when we moved from Phoenix and that post is here. I guess I am a tad bit obsessed with the desert landscape I also love our photographer Larissa, she is a good friend of mine who I have worked closely with for years. Originally I was planning on having our maternity photos taken in Banff in the winter... I see that all the time on Instagram and it just pulls at my heart strings but making the 6 hour drive in the snow during the holidays sounded so stressful. We may still capture our own photos here with some snow but for now we are drooling over these magical moments which were actually captured at the home of some of our dearest friends which just adds even more sentimental value to them!

I was 30 weeks pregnant in these photos so the belly has definitely grown since having them taken. It wasn't a huge necessity to have me look my biggest in these memories, I have been documenting that myself separately, but it was important to have some beautiful images I could hang up in the house. When I saw Cara Loren's maternity session, I instantly fell involve with her dress. SO gorgeous, their entire session was inspiring. When I found the dress online at ASOS I saw the long sleeve version and HAD to have it. It is perfect for a more wintery feel and it allowed me to dress Stephen and Sofia a little more fancy as well.

I am so grateful for these past 8.5 months (I will be 35 weeks this weekend, only 5 left!) and all I have learned from my pregnancy experience. It is not always easy, it has probably been the hardest physical challenge I have ever overcome but it is 100% worth it.

Thank you 2018 for an amazing year, here's to 2019... may you be even better!
