getting intimate

This post is sponsored by Kohl’s.  I was paid for this post and received the included panties as compensation.

panties c/o Kohl's

Let's get intimate for a moment here, real intimate! Panties are a huge part of a women's wardrobe but often they are never talked about or are overlooked. Up until recently I had a huge drawer of panties that I literally never wore. They didn't fit right, the colors were hot pink, orange, blue, the sides either dug into my hips giving me muffin top or were too loose and would ride up..... let's just say they were uncomfortable!

As I approaching my 30's there is one thing that as climbed the priority list in life and that is having  underwear which is comfortable, practical, and yes I would still like my husband to think I am sexy as well.  So, I am going to talk to you about the 5 standard types of panties I love and are a must have in my underwear drawer!

Starting with thongs, a girls ultimate everyday panties! My everyday, number one choice is the classic lace thong with the thick lace sides. I typically try to buy in neutral colors; black, grey, nude, ivory, white that way I can wear them under white jeans, or LBD without having to worry about the other color showing through.  My second choice are the seamless thongs which are perfect for working out in. As much as I love lace, running 3 miles in a lace thong is not always the most comfortable so choosing a softer more smooth material is so much more comfortable to workout in.

Moving on to a more full coverage, I love a good pair of lace cheeky panties! They are great for under a  midi skirt or dress and I even love them for night time. I have never been the girl who wears those cute matching pj's to bed, I always wear panties and a tank instead.  To be a little more sexy I'll go for a cheeky lace  and for those nights I just want to be overly comfy I'll chose a great cotton hip hugger or even a pair of boyshorts. I'll usually play around with more colors in the hip huggers or boyshorts than the lace because I am not worried about the colors showing through but the old woman in me likes to keep my color schemes constant for the mere fact that it is easier to do laundry!

Here are the styles I love, I always check sizing carefully as junior + women's size charts are different.

#NSALE hits + misses pt. 2

Last week I posted pt. 1 of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale hits + misses from the early access days, and today I have pt. 2 for you now that the sale is open to everyone! First off I can't believe how quickly all the items are selling, seriously crazy! My recommendation to you would be if you like it, buy it or else it will be gone!

top $71.90 (reg. $108) // grey jeans $134.90 (reg. $205) // distressed jeans $52.90 (reg. $80)

I a totally LOVING this Free People tunic top! It comes in 3 different color patterns and does run large. I would recommend sizing down one size, especially with the open back it can fit baggy and expose more than just your back.  I think a cute bralette or lace tank would look perfect underneath this tunic. Also, I paired it with jeans but leggings and tall boots would look fabulous as well!

I have been looking for a great pair of grey jeans for this fall, I love this distressed pair + for the price (they are $60 OFF!) i love them even more. They do fit true to size, I am wearing a 26.

top $27.90 (reg. $42) // distressed jeans $52.90 (reg. $80) // grey jeans $134.90 (reg. $205)

Yes, yes, yes to this top! A great staple comes in 5 different colors and fits true to size. You can't go wrong with a basic solid blouse for the fall + winter months OR pair it with denim shorts and a layered necklace and it is perfect for summer as well!

dress $37.90 ($58)

As mentioned in pt. 1 I wanted to try this shirt dresses in xxsmall and here it is. Fits great! Comes in 2 patterns and 2 solid colors!

sweater $58.90 (reg. $88) // jeans (now sold out)

THIS SWEATER IS EVERYTHING! I am seriously obsessed with he bottom hem as well as the arm length! I do recommend sizing down one size, I am wearing an xsmall in the burgundy and a small in the grey.  I felt the small was a little boxy for my frame and the arms a little long.  I already have long arms naturally so I feel the sleeves were too long. It fit just right (and not too short) in the xsmall.

These jeans are amazing however I could not find them online anymore :(

sweater $44.90 (reg. $68) // jeans $134.90 (reg. $205)

How cute is this sweater! I love it! Again with a cute lace bralette or tank it would be perfect. It also runs large so I could recommend sizing down one size. These jeans are same as above.

dress $31.90 (reg. $48)

I have this dress in a few colors now, but loving the black.  I bought my others in a size small, this is an xsmall.... and now I can't decide which one I like better. Small is definitely baggier but I didn't notice that until I tried the xsmall, if that makes sense? I would say size down if you have a smaller lower half but if you have hips and a bootie maybe stay your original size!

sweater $33.90 ($52) // jeans $52.90 (reg. $80)

This sweater is super comfy however it does run large.  I am wearing an xsmall and feel that it still may be too big.  It does come in xxsmall, however I didn't get to try it on. This may be a miss unless you can find a super cute way to style a top under it. Maybe my creativity is not turned on today :)

sweater vest $37.90 (reg. $58) // jeans $134.90 (reg. $205)

So, I originally thought this was a dress until I realized how far up the slit goes (insert large open eye emoji!). Not a dress, a sweater tunic! This looks great with jeans or leggings and I would also layer it under a jacket. maybe the new leather one that just came in the mail?!?!

floral jewel tones

jeans ($52.90 reg. $80) // shirt ($23.90 reg. $34) // shoes // bag // bracelet // sunnies // necklace

How much do you love this floral print top?! I picked it up last week in the early access part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which opened to the public last Friday! I seriously love this sale for so many reasons, not only the HUGE savings but also because they are huge savings on NEW fall trends. July is a little early to be thinking of fall (I get it, especially here in Arizona!) but I always kick myself come November when I am wanting a new wardrobe and everything is either sold out or 3x as expensive. This lace-up top was an item I immediately gravitated towards because I love the rich jewel tone colors. It is a great piece for Arizona and when the cooler weather comes I can throw on a leather jacket or long duster!

The sale is still going on, lasts until August 8th so make sure you check it out!

Saturdays with Beauty Brands

On Saturday July 16th, I was so honored to host a summer beauty event at the local Gilbert Beauty Brands in the SanTan Village Mall. Beauty Brands is your one stop beauty shop with everything from make-up to skin care to hair products and a full salon!

On Saturday we had so much fun trying the new mascara from Rodial, getting a summer glow with a bunch of fun Tarte Cosmetics as well as a summer braid bar.  Starting your weekend by having a fun girly morning is alway the best!

Every July Beauty Brands has their AMAZING annual liter sale! Liters are on sale for $13.99! I always make sure to stock up on my favorites for the entire year, you just can't beat that price.

Besides a good shampoo a few of my favorite beauty must haves for the summer have been:

St. Tropez Shower Gel - this a gradual self tanner used daily (if wanted) in the shower! You apply generously all over in circular motions then wait 3 full minutes, then simply rinse off! Easy as one, two, three!

The Detangler Wet Brush - SERIOUSLY AMAZING! Since I highlight my hair it tends to be brittle and break easily. Brushing after the shower hurt so bad + my hair would break. Since trying this amazing detangler it has been life changing! My 6 yr old. step daughter is even more obsessed with it than I am. No more tangle drama in this house!

Tarte lip paint in TBT - This is the first time I have ever tried a lip paint, talk about perfect lines! I have never had a lipstick work so well or look so good. It comes in many different colors but my favorite summer (which will also transition into fall!) color is TBT.

white criss cross tank

jeans c/o Aeropostale (similar) // top c/o Shein // shoes (old - similar) // bag // watch // bracelets c/o Olive + Piper // lips: Tarte lip paint in "tbt"

With all this hype about fall trends hitting the stores I thought I would remind everyone that it is still summer, it is still hot, and all white is still on point! You have probably seen this top on my instagram page a few times because I have been wearing it like crazy. It is THE perfect summer tank, with a cute criss cross back + open hole design it is great with this Arizona heat! It also happens to be under $8! No joke! It fits true to size, I actually have an x-small on but a small would have fit just as well. A common question I was asked was what undergarment to wear, I just have a nude strapless bar on, it is low enough in the back to not see it and in the front just looks like skin!

Happy Tuesday dolls!

#NSALE hits + misses pt. 1

I have some of the best hits and misses of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale early access! It is such a fun sale because they are all brand new items for this coming fall season that no one has yet! I know it's hot out but it's a great time to get excited about boots + booties, sweaters, great denim, and of course fall dresses!

I went to Nordstrom FIRST THING when it opened on Thursday and did some research to find the best of the best, and unfortunately some misses as well. Take a look:

jeans ($44.90 reg. $68)) // top ($21.90 reg. $34) // jacket ($64.90 reg. $98)

So much YES in this photo! I love this cute floral burgundy top with the lace-up neck. It is a perfect transition piece because it can be worn now in the summer and then layered in the fall, plus it is only $21.90 right now! THIS LEATHER JACKET is a MUST for everyone! It is on sale for $64.90 and worth every penny plus some. I did size up to a medium for this jacket, the small was a little short for my long arms, plus I like a little extra room for layering. These jeans are so cute.... however for some reason they did not fit me perfectly. They by all mans are NOT a miss but I am taking a second to think about them. If you have long legs then they are 100% yes... they do fit true to size, I wear a 26 and they fit, they are not high waisted just FYI!

top ($21.90 reg. $34) // jacket ($64.90 reg. 98) // skirt ($35.90 reg. $55)

We already discussed the top + jacket (above) so let's chat the denim skirt here. The skirt is from Topshop (which always fits small) it is high waisted and the denim is stretch material. Usually I size up in Topshop but I tried my regular size (26) and it fit great! I think it would look super cute with tights and booties as well in the cooler months.

skirt ($35.90 reg. $55) // top ($23.90 reg. $36)

I picked up this black ribbed 3/4 sleeve top solely because I touched it and it was the softest material I have ever touched.  It fits true to size and seriously a basic must have! Not only is it super comfy it is a great layering piece for the fall months approaching, and if you are in a warmer state like me here in Arizona it is not too thick of material! Also comes in a white + olive color.

top ($23.90 reg. $36) // jeans ($37.90 reg. $58) // jacket ($64.90 reg. $98)

Top is the same black 3/4 sleeve from above, this time I paired it with these light blue wash distressed denim and this black leather jacket almost the same as the cognac one. I love these jeans, they fit true to size but are stretch material so they will give, and for $37.90 you can't beat it! This jacket is another MUST HAVE, it is more "biker-y" than the cognac one but still so fabulous. I am wearing a size small and it fits great, so runs a little larger than the other one I posted above but made by the same brand, blanknyc.

jacket ($64.90 reg. $98) // dress ($37.90 reg. $58)

Jacket, again same as above! I love a good button up shirt dress, I think they are super comfy and can be dressed up or down which if you know me is a big bonus in my want for choosing my wardrobe. This  plaid is super cute and since I bought the jacket I loved the matching cognac color in the lines in the plaid, however it runs big! I tired a small and an x-small and both were too big. They do have xx-small online! I am 5'4 and weigh between 115 and 120lbs if that helps with sizing. I just think this look is fabulous especially with a cute pair of booties!

dress ($37.90 reg. $58)

Here is another shirt dress (also comes in Olive) that again runs big. I thought the rust color would be a deeper rust than it was. To me, I was not impressed, I much rather have the plaid dress, just gives the it a little something extra!

dress ($31.90 reg. $48)

While we are on the topic of dresses, here is another rust lace-up (I seem to have a theme of rust going on here!) that I had high hopes for. However I did not love the way the dress hung on my body, didn't give much shape and the material make me look boxy. I was bummed because I love the lace up front.

jeans ($44.90 reg. $68) // top ($36.90 reg. $56)

Jeans are the same as the first photo posted above, and this top is beautiful! It also comes in a blue color (hurry selling fast!) and both are just gorgeous! It did run a size lager for me, I typically wear a small but this fit me better in an x-small. The neckline ties at the back... just love!

jeans ($52.90 reg. $80) // sweater ($28.90 reg. $44)

THESE JEANS ARE THE BEST! I was obsessed and they come in both distressed and non-distressed! I sized up 2 sizes (to a size 28) because they are a stretchy jean (almost like legging) and  are high waisted Topshop.... size up! But seriously, love them! And this sweater is extremely comfortable! I tried both the grey and the rust (go figure!) and love both. I do recommend sizing down one size, it is longer in the back so even with the smaller size you can wear it with leggings! The sweater comes in  4 beautiful colors... I literally want one of each color!

dress ($24.90 reg. $38)

Last item for you today, this beautiful lace victorian style dress! Can you believe it is on sale for $24.90? I tried it on and immediately felt like a princess. I think it would look beautiful with a denim jacket and booties, by itself with a great pair of chunky heels, or with tights, a leather jacket and more booties! So versatile. Just love! Oh, and it fits true to size, I am wearing a small and it is definitely not too short.

There you have it, a few of my must haves and misses for the first few days of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, early access.  I will be heading back to the mall early next week to see what else I can round up! Also, make sure you are following on instagram because I will be posting the outfits I fully styled with shoes + bags from the sale as well!
