i'm free!

Today is the last day of my job.  It's been two years and I am finally completing my very last day.
I.  AM.  FREE.

Ever feel like you are trapped? In your job, routine, everyday life? When weighing free vs. trapped how do we know what to do to break away from it? What do you think the feeling of free comes from? Is it not having to report to someone? Or maybe just being able to make your decisions as you go and not plan? i am nervous/excited for this new experience.  The feeling I have today is unlink one I seem to have ever felt.  Its a great mix between letting loose and being scared out of my mind!

What do you think makes you free?

color block me

outfit: forever21, shoes: steve madden

Welcome Friday before the long weekend! Yay,  I cant wait! Usually my memorial weekend will consist of Mexico or California with friends, but this year I am hanging low.  I will spend my three relaxing days off doing wonderful things such as: packing, laundry, cleaning, running errands, getting my car checked over, tying up loose ends! I mean that sounds way more fun than the beach with friends right?! UH, HUH! But you know what, it will be fun because the following week my trip will start so no complaining from me! What are your plans for the weekend? A little red, white, and blue?? Or in my case,  a little yellow, blue, and teal!! I can not get over color blocking! LOVING IT!

Jarred Allen Charity Golf Event!

Last weekend I had the honor to photograph Jarred Allen's annual Night-Ops charity golf event.  Jarred has a non-profit organization; HOMES FOR WOUNDED WARRIORS, which is an organization dedicated to building homes and helping the men and women who come home from deployment.  The foundation is unreal and I suggest all of you check it out! Each year as one of the major events the foundation puts on is the annual golf event! This is unlike any other golf event I have ever attended.  Take a look at my experience...

The foundation is current in the process of building a home for Josh! Thank you Josh for serving our country and all that you have done!
The National Anthem was sung by country music singer, James Otto!

Take a look at the longest slip-n-slide I have ever seen!
Jarred. Johnny Knoxville, and Wee Man!

The Three Amigos!
Reading messages and thank you notes from the military!
Mr.  Larry Fitzgerald himself, thanking the military!
After the photos, slip-n-slides, and dinner the golfing began.  Tee off was at 7:00pm.  Two teams per hole with 18 holes! The foundation did a wonderful job of putting lights on the course, having glow in the dark balls, and music to keep everyone is excited and pumped up!
At each hole, military men and women were present to keep the golfers in check.  If it was a bad hit, or the ball did travel far enough the golfers were down doing push-up's, jumping jacks, you name it!!

It was truly a great experience. Not only was I able to learn a lot with my photography (I know all of you are wondering, my external flash worked like a charm, phew!) but also to see in action a wonderful foundation.  Until next year!!

THANK YOU TO ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN SERVING OUR COUNTRY!

PCH travels.

So here's some big news for you,  I am going on a road trip! I recently just quit my 9-5 Monday through Friday job, and I am taking off in my little scion TC and driving the PCH up the coast until I get to Canada! As many of you know,  I am Canadian, yepp thats right the land of snow, hockey, and mountees! My entire family lives in a beautiful town in central BC which is where I will be spending the next few months.  I have many photography opportunities to take advantage of through the summer which will keep me on my toes!

I leave Arizona and head to LA, spending the night in LA after I complete an engagement shoot.  Then off to San Fran where I will be meeting friends to attend the Union Street Festival! After  party weekend in SF, I will jump on the road again and head up to Portland! I have never been to Portland so I am beyond excited. My final day will be from Portland to Vancouver, BC! I will spend a day or two in Vancouver due to another engagement session that I have booked! My final destination is, Vernon, British Columbia! My favorite place in the world!

I feel like a free spirit flying through the air with nothing in my way.  I am more than excited to take advantage of this opportunity and will be sharing it with you along the way! If you are located in any of the cities I have mentioned,  I would love to meet for ice cream and have a little blogger meet up! Also, I have had inquires about doing photography sessions along the way.  If you are wanting a session with me,  I am offering a special for bloggers only! one hour session, 10 photos for $80!

I am beyond excited for this trip, yet a bit nervous! So tell me, who has done a major road trip before? Where did you go and what did you do to entertain yourselves?!

mix & match

There seems to be a lot of mixing and matching of patterns going on out there this summer, and I must say I am absolutely loving it! I think many times, as we are putting together an outfit, hesitation on what "goes" together and what doesn't runs through our minds.  The rules, no navy and black, no gold and silver, no polka dots and stripes..... all these rules can be thrown right. out. that. window.  I believe now more than ever mixing and matching patterns is more fabulous the crazier you get with it.  Above are more photos from the fashion shoot I did of Ashley (you can see last weeks here!).  I feel  IN LOVE with that beautiful red floral print.  It is the perfect mixture of casual yet classy summer attire that can be dressed up or dressed down.  Mixing the blue polka dot headband with the red floral print, adds a contrast unique to Ashley's style. She pulls it off well! Get crazy this summer and mix and match some pieces to an outfit that you normally might not!

Flash

I have been asked to photography the Jarred Allen charity golf event here in Arizona this weekend!! Ahh, what an honor! The golf event will take place at Talking Stick resort in Scottsdale, from 5-11pm.  Wow,  once I received the invitation I jumped on the opportunity! I think my response was, WAIT,  I GET TO MEET JARRED HIMSELF? The coordinator was like, Yes Stesha, and other football players as well! After the initial shock set in panic started to overcome me.  I have faith in my photog skills but shooting at night is way different than shooting during the day. We are talking flashes here people!!! So i made the big purchase,  an external flash for my camera.  Between all my lenses and gadgets my THEIT camera bag is becoming full.  I have not put down my flash since I bought it.  I need as much practice as possible, there is a lot riding on these photos, and plus,  I want a picture of Jarred for my home! haha! Those are my weekend plans,. what are you up too? Happy Friday to you loves!!
